Meg had a great weekend. On Saturday she got to go to the tire shop (to fix a flat), to the bakery, and to the hardware store. She loved it and was well behaved.
On Sunday, we went to Valleyfest for Responsible Dog Ownership Day, where we watched the disc dog competition.
When we first arrived, Meg was a bit touchy and barked at a few dogs, but she soon settled in (hiding under a picnic table for a while) and focused her attention on the flying discs. Boy oh boy, did she really want to catch one! Perhaps next year.
We also visited the many booths for local shelters and dog-related business. Meg brought home bag full of free goodies including a new toy, a Petfinder bandana, and lots of treats to share with Bear. There was a ton of dogs everywhere and Meg did quite well at ignoring most of them. A few she focused in on and gave the Border Collie stare...we'll continue to work on that.
After Valleyfest, we went to lunch and then for a hike along the river. We passed several dogs along the way and Meg didn't bark at any of them.
On Wednesday, we had our last Foundation Agility class! Meg and Bear were the only dogs there so they got to be off leash the whole time. They had a blast clowning around, trying to randomly switch handlers and steal each others treats. We worked on our 'out' some more. The dogs went through the chute with the cloth on this time. Bear was not impressed. Meg thought it was great until the trainer dropped the cloth on her at the end...then she layed down in the chute cloth and refused to move until it was lifted off of her, silly girl.
We also introduced them to the tire. Both dogs loved it. Bear kept wanting to go through it over and over in both directions...he was quite the clown.
We have a week off before Meg and I start Agility 1. Old Bear has been a bit sore in the hips and not real interested in practice so he's going to retire from agility.
Meg and I will also be taking an advanced obedience class with Lisa Lucas at Northern Tails Dog Training. Hopefully as the weather gets colder and we switch to a more indoor lifestyle, taking two classes at the same time will help keep Meg's mind occupied.
